I used to think you could hear
me from where you are standing
but not any more when
it’s drowned out
by a heartbeat moon
lets face it we all beat
fast in the dark/ the next day
mouthing a hailstorm —
phantom gathering.
Yours or mine?
For the sake of not
sounding like you ought to
we can’t talk about facts
one that is my breastbone
is the sounding that keeps
us awake at night
